The first time I heard the new Phoenix song “Trying to be Cool”, was live on SNL back in April. The song is a smooth, nod-your-head tune and the music video was just released today! “Trying to be Cool” at once mimics those hyper-self-aware personas individuals put on to impress people of interest and then begs a particular person to just “tell me that you want me”.
No worries though, Thomas Mars himself sings “I’m just trying to be cool/It’s all because of you/Some fanatic attitude/We’re both on”, so it’s a mutual experience. If you haven’t listened to it yet, be sure to sometime soon. Perhaps now? See the music video below & grab a free download too!
